UV BALLAST INFO:

The UV transformer is a ballast; it does not become warm when in use. The UV lamp would last for 9000 hours, which is about a year. Look at the UV lamp, if it has black burn mark, it would indicate a burnt UV lamp. The ballast should last longer than the UV lamp.
